150 IDPs receive micro-economic business start-up kits.

Armed with acceptable knowledge on business management and implementation, over 150 IDPs benefitted from micro business kits aimed at nurturing their week-long knowledge empowerment strive. The kits which The Horizon gathered stemmed from micro business proposals submitted by the IDPs comprised of bags of rice, cartons of soap, packets of toilet tissue, tins of cooking oil, fuel wood, cartons of sugar amongst others were symbolically presented to the IDPs in the presence of the regional delegate for women’s empowerment and the family, Wirba Asaan, representative of regional delegate for social affairs, amongst others.

Speaking at the event, Tata Nelson said: "These choices are rapid income generating activities with overwhelming immediate impacts and outcomes. After succeeding in their business commitments and endeavours, they will help another vulnerable or needy person in their communities to begin a livelihood business".

Asked how concrete the CHRAPA project to the less equipped, given that the crisis has led to the collapse of businesses, Tata replied:

"Our grass root community approach implemented for a proper project comprehension was to help the beneficiaries master the intrigues surrounding the project.

We recognized most projects fail because most are imposed on beneficiaries but with the paralegals through whom we were provided their desires and situations to exploit we are sure the so much desired aim will be gotten cognizant of the great scope with which they had to choose from and mindful of a strict follow-up and guidance.”

On what becomes of other IDPs selected but not having benefitted, Mary Nyinui told the press: "Thanks to the Italian government, the UN-Women was able to give out such a project. We will keep sourcing for funds to reach out to the overly crisis hit populations".

To Ijang Claris, a beneficiary, "I am very happy for such. I intend to sell groundnut oil, palm oil and I will love to pick up from here and hopefully I will assist others too".

For his part, a muslim beneficiary quipped: "I intend to open a provision store to market sugar, maggi, oil and others. I thank them for this opportunity and I will certainly help others in the course of time".

To another,"my vision of setting up a micro business is simple and now real. I will sell flour, rice, maggi, sugar and others and this will help me greatly as a family man".

Others involved in the sale of fuel wood and frying of puff balls told the press: “We are satisfied and will do all in our best to "chop no broke pot",a local terminology used to imply impacting and transferring knowledge and resources gained to our needy peers.

Speaking at the event, Wirba Asaan lauded the initiative while insisting a project of such magnitude would provide better means of sustainable development and livelihood improvement.
