Transport minister suspends Binam.

The Minister of Transport, Jean Ernest Massena Ngalle Bihehe, has given a three- month suspension to Binam Voyage Travel Agency following the hijack and assault on board one of its buses, October  26, in Obala. The information is contained in a release issued on October 29 by the Transport Minister Emest Massena Ngalle Bibehe. Going by the release, Binam Voyage Travel Agency is for the next three months restricted from plying between the Centre to the West Region following the hijack and assault on board one of its buses in Obala by five armed bandits. Passengers of the 70-seater bus belonging to the Binam Voyage were robbed of their precious belongings shortly after leaving Yaounde for Bafoussam during a night journey. Reports hold that on that fateful day, the bus left Yaounde upon reaching the Emana neighbourhood, the driver stopped to pick up five passengers who indicated they were going to Bafoussam. Despite the lack of seating space and complaints from passengers, the driver did not hesitate to overload the bus. About 30 minutes into the journey, the passengers witnessed a spectacular robbery scene from the five unidentified passengers.

Eye-witnesses, according to reports, said the heavily armed “Passengers” ordered the driver to drive towards the Obala Technical High School. There they were stripped of their phones, money and valuable items to the tune of 13 million FCFA. The assistant of the bus driver managed to escape and reported the incident to the police station. By the time the forces of law and order arrived the scene, the armed robbers had escaped. The driver of the bus is under custody for endangering the lives of the passengers.
