SHESA renews confidence in Anong Evaristus-led exco; announces take-off of credit union.
Ex-students of Sacred Heart College Mankon (SHESA) have overwhelmingly given a second mandate to the results-oriented exco of Anong Evaristus in recognition of their achievements recorded in very difficult circumstances in the last two years.
Anong Evaristus who is a senior official at Chantier Naval , CNIC, Douala, was re-elected as President General of SHESA last Saturday during the Annual General Meeting of the association that held at the CDC SS Club Tiko. Also re-elected was the Deputy President General, Dr Neba Ngwa Martin, who is President of the Bafoussam branch.
Polling officers for exercise were Mundenge Mukoto Simon (eldest Mishe at the occasion) and Awah Jafta of the 2005 batch (youngest Mishe).
The Anong-led exco is credited, among other things, with registration of SHESA; maintaining statutory holding of the SHESA AGM; rebranding SHESA to give it more visibility; and adopting the pet project of floating a SHESA Credit Union.
One of the highlights of the Tiko AGM was the presentation by Patrice Mboh Lumumba, director of general affairs (DAG) at the Directorate General of Treasury, of the SHESA Credit Union Project.
The applause that followed the presentation was an indication of the enthusiasm of SHESANS for the project for which a Constituent General Assembly is scheduled before year end.
Anong Evaristus has as mandate to transform SHESA and Sacred Heart College from an institution of excellence to a point of reference.
Speaking after his re-election, he said he had the challenge to continue building SHESA from the solid foundation already laid by four past presidents who were present at the occasion; viz: Azong Wara, Ralph Mufor, George Ngwane and Ban Blaise. He said his road map would include preparation for the SHESA Golden Jubilee in 2023; mobilisation towards and actualisation of the SHESA Credit Union Project and rebranding of the AGM. He announced that February ending will henceforth be cut-off time for coverage of members by the Solidarity Fund which now has a separate account lodged at NFC for its management.
Yaounde will host for the SHESA AGM in 2020.
It had been feared that the Tiko AGM would be a failure because of insecurity as a result of the Anglophone crisis, but it turned out to be groundbreaking. Shesannettes (wives of SHESANS) had a great excursion to key sites in Tiko, while some participants took time off to relax in some of the hotspots later in the evening. The mass which kicked off deliberations was quite lively with a soul-searching sermon from the officiating priest. The march past according to batches was also quite colourful, while the reception from the host branch was great. Debates in plenary were heated but the tact of the PG limited irrelevancies.
