The Regional Institution Strengthening Committee abbreviated in French as CRRI of the Regional Council for the Formation of the Supreme Audit Institutions of Public Finance in Sub-Saharan Francophone Africa known by its French acronym CREFIAF, has convened its 18th session in Yaounde, Cameroon’s political capital. This took place on Wednesday, 13 November 2019 at Hilton Hotel in the presence of Mbayu Felix, Cameroon’s Minister Delegate at the Ministry of External Relations in Charge of Relations with Commonwealth, Rev. Dr. Massi Gams, Chairman of CONAC, CREFIAF’s representatives from member states and other government personalities.

In a welcome speech by the Representative of the Government Delegate to the Yaounde City Council, he urged the participants to have a grat stay in Cameroon throughout the session. He said the presence of CREFIAF in Yaounde shows the seriousness of the leadership in Cameroon in promoting good governance, good public management in the National Plan and also in Cameroon’s neighbouring countries.

The opening ceremony was presided over by the Minister Delegate at the Presidency of Cameroon in Charge of Supreme State Audit, Rose Mbah Acha Fomundam. In her speech, Minister Rose Mbah Acha who doubles as the President of the Executive Board of CREFIAF, said it was a great privilege to host the session which is aimed at scrutinizing institutional governance to craft a path for the future.

It should be noted that CREFIAF was created in 1997 in Yaounde to promote cooperation among supreme audit institutions of public finance.

One of its goals was to promote the integration of women in professional activities of supreme audit institutions handling public finance while fighting against poverty and corruption.

The 18th session of the CRRI has the overall objective to discuss the key issues of concern to CREFIAF  like the examination and appropriation of the action plans of the functional commissions which should be inspired by its new strategic plan for 2019- 2024.

The session ended on Friday, 15 November 2019 with the closing speech from the CRRI president.
