Explaining recommendations of Major National Dialogue: Gov’t sends peace caravans to NW&SW!

In a bid to sensitise and keep the dynamism of the Major National Dialogue (MND), government has dispatched regional and divisional caravans to municipalities of the North West and South West to engage a peace campaigns to the populations.
The governors of the two regions were charged with launching the regional caravans last Saturday in Bamenda and Buea, respectively.
In Bamenda last Saturday administrative as well as religious, political and opinion leaders joined NW governor at the MINEPAT hall to review modalities and strategies to implement in the quest for a laid down framework to permit subdivisional heads charged with the obligation to sensitise the masses on the recommendations at the national dialogue.
Placed under the auspices of the Prime Minister’s Office, representatives being elites of the respective municipalities are therefore urged to after due consultation map out modalities for concertration and consultation which would further permit and aid a free commencement of ground work.
The above synopsis gave room for deliberations through which His Eminence Christian Cardinal Tumi told participants:"Note that the way you talk matters. Go on your knees if need be, do not throw blames nor accuse any.”
Before now, journalist had raised concerns on access to information. The response from North West governor, Lele Lafrique, was that further discussions with all SDOs would produce a solution.
Some participants expressed optimism at the peace caravan optimism. Fon Thomas Kibussi traditional ruler of Nkanchi / Misaje told The Horizon: "We have been doing well in our villages by speaking the truth to our people".
In this light, he added: "We shall be letting the people know at the national dialogue we did our best to deliberate knowledgeably and it is left for the parliament to adopt the proposals so they can benefit. "
To the mayor of Wum, "we are servants of our population. In Wum, we have had meetings which were prompted by the Akou and Mbororo communities which we exploited and preached peace.To me incisively when a politician stays away and only returns when he needs the people it makes it difficult. Rather, it’s about keeping the relationship, closeness and ties to enable future peace building mediums. Through the Akou-Mbororo tussle, we sensitized our population and consequently I can proudly tell you I am optimistic preaching peace and sensitizing them on the recommendations of the dialogue will be much more easier".
Meanwhile, Hon. Francis Enwe Abi , team member for Momo, holds that "all will be well in the execution of the sensitization caravan in Momo and Widikum in particular".
In debunking claims that such a medium is untimely Enwe added: “The government has been doing its utmost best. As a government, it takes its time and if a measure as such is coming now it should be welcomed".
Others hold that representatives at the national dialogue were not the right representatives of the people as criticisms had began erupting at a pre- consultation phase with the prime minister when NW Governor Adolphe Lele Lafrique in an interview had hinted decentralization as the choice of governance most preferred by the people. To this therefore and owing to insecurity which has seen the lives of many squeezed out of their mortal bodies, questions arise as to how a caravan can make it to Nwa, Njikwa, Belo, Kumbo, Wainama , Ako, Oku amongst others.
As parliament continues its sitting many are looking up to see the adoption of a special status which will certainly provide proposals and modalities in relation to the NW and SW regions. Consequently it is right to think the peace caravan will in a nutshell lay the groundwork for a proper comprehension of the special status explanation if any in due course.
