New dawn for public works school.
The new management team of the National Advanced School of Public Works (NASPW), has been challenged to show proof of team spirit, clairvoyance and objectivity in the discharge of their respective duties. The Minister of Public Works, Emmanuel Nganou Djoumessi, gave the instructions on Monday, November 18, 2019, while commissioning the three officials into office.
The trio comprises: Mrs. Christine Virginie Metangmo Ndenamou Radegonde as the Chairperson of the management board of the NASPW. Mr. George Elambo Nkeng as the Director of the school and Mr Charles Bwemba as the Deputy Director in charge of Studies. Mrs. Christine Virginie Metangmo Ndenamou Redegonde culmulates the post of Chairperson of the Management Board with the post of Director General of Infrastructure in the Ministry of Public Works, while the Deputy Director in charge of studies was until his appointment Sub-Director of Railway Infrastructure in the same ministry. Meanwhile, the Director of the National Advanced School of Public Works has occupied post since 2000. The officials were appointed by the President of the Republic last October 14, 2019. The Minister of Public Works, Emmanuel Nganou Djoumessi invited them to use their wealth of experience and expertise to train future technicians, engineers and architects needed to catapult Cameroon’s 2035 emergence vision. “The task is arduous, and the stakes enormous, that of impacting quality training onto future architects, technicians and engineers in Cameroon. As the technical supervisor of the institution, I am a available to assist them in all their endeavours. I have instructed the team to get down to work immediately”, reiterated the minister. The newly-commissioned, for their part, expressed gratitude to the Head of State for the confidence bestowed onto them while promising to work harder in order to merit it. “The minister has given us the terms of reference. We have to get down to work immediately. Our priority is to lift the National Advanced School of Public Works to international standards”, said the pioneer Chairperson of the management board NASPW. The National Advanced School of Public Works has for some 37 years now, trained thousands of public works engineers in Cameroon. A 2016 presidential decree re-organized the school, entrusting its technical supervision to the Ministry of Public Works, while the Ministry of Higher Education ensures the academic supervision. So far, the school has two vocational training centers in Garoua and Akonolinga in the Centre Region, and an annex in Buea, with plans to create similar ones across the country.
