Government Humanitarian Aid: Mattresses resurface, but IDPs call for definite solutions.

The persistence of the Anglophone crisis, discernible in the beheading of many, gunshots and deaths at regular and irregular intervals, kidnappings for ransom , burnings of public and private property has forced unarmed civilians to quit their homes in quest for safer atmospheres. This justifies the influx of over 5000 more homeless and hunger beaten and stricken indigenes who came knocking on the doors of the office of the coordination unit of the government emergency humanitarian plan who was since vested with the obligation to identify, interview and register the internally displaced persons with the hope of providing relief aid. Through this one-year-old initiative IDPs had since been benefitting from relief aid. The disappearance of mattresses from the package for a while left beneficiaries complaining bitterly. But when they resurfaced during the 22 November distribution phase at the esplanade of the NW Governor’s office, they leapt for joy. But this joy will only be complete when normalcy returns.
Speaking on condition of anonymity, a beneficiary confided:
"I was a student in Bambili. Due to the multiple kidnappings, gunshots and interrupted studies, I relocated to Bamenda town where Ntasen quarter seemed safer. It further grew worse when Ntasen became unsafe due to the same reasons. It is my wish that government steps in with a definite solution and normalcy reinstated in Bambili so we students can study hitch-free.”
Another hinted: "My belongings got burnt with nothing for me to survive on. I live in a home of 12 with mean means of survival. Truly this humanitarian gesture means a lot but peace is much more solicited now.We are talking of a post dialogue era where dialogue proposals and the so much sung special status content remains known to hierarchy. It is imperative to attain a solution to the crisis, seeing that it will help us relocate and plunge into our heyday doings".
To another "I am grateful for such a move, living in a home of 6 has not been easy. Worst still without mattresses, as I learnt others collected made me sick when I imagined myself being a recipient.I am grateful for such a gesture and it means a lot".
Presiding over the event Viang Mekala , Secretary General at the NW Governor’s office, entreated the beneficiaries to uphold positive citizenhood as they go about their new environment while hoping for the best from the government especially at the post dialogue era.
