2019 Nigerian Local Football tournament: Omega Football Club crowned champions.

The 2019 Nigerian Local Football Tournament has come and gone but the dust is yet to settle on the side of the team that won this year’s edition.
The tournament this year held within a particular context; at a time the wife and children of the President of the tournament, Emeka Okoli (Turbo) died in a tragic ship accident at the Bakassi Peninsula. Reason why the sponsor, Chief Cletus Ezendigbo Odupote (Auto General) took off some minutes and called on the crowd to pay tribute to the family that has been so supportive of the tournament.
The sponsor in his opening speech thanked each and every Nigerian for coming to this great final as well as the Cameroonian authorities, especially the Divisional Officer of Yaounde IV, Commander of the Fire Fighting Brigade and the quarter head for their support.
He equally acknowledged and thanked the Nigerian Union President, Hon Joseph Mbila Uka, for having never missed attending a single edition of the tournament and for rallying Nigerians in Yaounde and its environs.
Chief Ezendigbo acknowledged the efforts put in year in, year out by Emeka Okoli and Pastor Emmanuel Eze, coordinator, in ensuring a successful tournament.
The sponsor also thanked the Nigerian consul for supporting the tournament and according to the chief; the consul was not present in this year’s ceremony because he is preparing to receive Nigerians in his send-off party but had been there for the previous editions.
The final for this year pitted Omega FC to God is Able FC and after both sides separated on a one-all tie. Omega FC finally carried the day 3 goals to two on penalty kicks. Meanwhile, the 3rd spot match was won by Emana FC.
It therefore culminated with the award of medals and trophies as well as individual distinctions to players who showed proof of their talents; best player, best goal scorer and best goalkeeper just to name a few. All these were handed over to the teams and players by the sponsor assisted by the Nigerian Union President.
