Promoting Children Right: SOS VILLAGE develops new strategies.
For the funding of the various projects of the Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), SOS Village D’Enfant Cameroun amongst which is to ensure the well-being of Children who lack parental care, a three-day workshop was organized on November 26,2019 at the Black Diamond Restaurant in Yaounde for the development of the National Strategy for Government grants to enable them cover up the expenses.
The National Director of the NGO, Claude Alvine Mbappe Tankoua, while opening the workshop, said the aim of the three-day workshop from November 26 to 28, 2019, is to see how the Government, in a practical way, can sponsor the activities of the organization since their projects have always been sponsored by foreigners. Because the children in question are Cameroonians, the government has to allocate more subventions for the organization. The Director in her presentation, enumerated the difficulties they face in the execution of their various projects amongst which was the problem of difficulties in fund raising and the absence of government grants, which explains the reason for the organization of the workshop.
Ending with the phrase “Venir en aide a beaucoup d’enfants demande beaucoup d’amis”, the Director called on all to help those they could, though it means expenditure, but they should.
Participants at this workshop were representatives of the different ministries involved in the care of the disfavored especially the Ministry of Social Affairs with whom they are in partnership. They wish that at the end of the workshop, the outcome of all the deliberations should produce fruitful resolutions that will be implemented.
Created in 1949 by Hermann Gmeiner in Austria, the association became operational in Cameroon on January 5,1990 and since then acts as a great relief for children who lack family love and those who are at risk of losing it. It has seen children throughout their studies with many obtaining certificates like the HND, Bachelor’s Degree and Master’s Degree in their various fields of study. The association acts as a support for project of MINAS, since the government cannot reach to all who are disfavoured.
