Fai Yengo Francis says 255 fighters have surrendered.
Fai Yengo Francis, coordinator of Cameroon’s Disarmament, Demobilisation and Reintegration Committee says some 255 fighters have turned in their weapons and are being taken care of at the 3 centres found in Bamenda, Buea and Maroua.
Speaking at a press conference in Yaounde on the occasion of the first anniversary of the DDR, Fai Yengo said the Maroua centre was host to 122 ex-combatants of Boko Haram, while the Bamenda and Buea centres held 60 and 70 ex- Ambazonian fighters.
He said the ex-fighters were receiving psycho-social treatment as well as being encouraged to undertake income-generating activities that would eventually re-insert them into the society.
The national coordinator said more ex-fighters could be convinced to surrender their weapons with the collaboration of the masses.
