CAMAIR-CO confirms Bamenda airport plane attack.
The Cameroon Airlines Corporation, CAMAIR-CO has reacted to news of its plane being attacked on Sunday 1st December at the Bamenda airport.
In a communiqué , the airline states that “its MA60 aircraft, registered TJ-QDB, was shot at with firearms, as it approached the Bamenda airport for landing”.
Fortunately, “no loss in human life was recorded and thanks to the bravery of the Captain, the aircraft was able to land smoothly despite the impact on its fuselage”.
Following this incident, the comminique states, “the plane has been grounded in order to assess the nature of the impact in consultation with the relevant technical authorities. Consequently, Camair-Co’s flight schedule has been re-organised to limit any disruption that may result”.
The attacked plane had left Douala to Bamenda this Sunday morning, Dec 1, 2019 when it was attacked while trying to land at the Bafut airport.
Chris Anu, spokesperson for the Ambazonia Interim Gov’t, in a statement, said it was just a warning shot intended to scare the Cameroonian colonisers off Ambazonian airspace. He said the target of the Amba boys was not civilians.
