The Minister of Public Works, Emmanuel Nganou Djoumessi, has defended the draft budgetary proposals of the Ministry before the Committee on Finance and the Budget of the National Assembly. He defended the financial projections of FCFA 459.60 billion on December 4, 2019 in the presence of the Minister Delegate at the Presidency in charge of Relations with the Assemblies, François Bolvine Wakata.
According to his presentation, the priority areas of intervention in 2020 for the Ministry of Public Works would be continuing ongoing efforts in view of implementing missions outlined in the Growth and Employment Strategy Paper (GESP) and the Three-Year Emergency Plan for the Acceleration of Growth (PLANUT). To substantially improve the rate of access to infrastructures by generating an offer that anticipates demand, the actions of the Ministry, Minister Emmanuel Nganou Djoumessi said, would be completing projects under way, particularly those with internal funding. “The aim is to complete old projects in order to enable the road to fully play its role of common denominator for the development of economic sectors”, he stated.
While acknowledging not all earth roads can be used in all seasons, the Minister said the ministry’s determination remains in ensuring that traffic is not disrupted on roads by increasing their length.
