CHAN 2020, AFCON 2021: AUB discusses TV coverage with PM Dion Ngute.
The Director General of The African Union of Broadcasting, AUB, has said the organisation will accompany Cameroon in ensuring that the upcoming 2020 African Nations Championship and the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON, to be hosted by Cameroon, are given the requisite live TV transmission. Cameroonian-born Gregoire Ndjaka gave the assurances during an audience with Prime Minister Dr Joseph Dion Ngute at the Star Building last Monday. Ndjaka said his visit to the Prime Minister’s office, which lasted about 30 minutes, was not only to assure Cameroon of AUB’s support but also to express gratitude to President Paul Biya for the sustained assistance he has been offering the organisation. He said with regard to helping Cameroon effectively broadcast the two major Confederation of African Football, CAF, competitions which it is scheduled to host, a task force has already been put in place to follow up issues related to the broadcast rights. The AUB Director General also told the PM of the body’s willingness to continue maintaining the cordial relations that already exist between his organisation and Cameroon. The African Union of Broadcasting is a decades-old pan African organisation that constitutes 45 radio and television broadcasting corporations within the African continent. Founded in 1962, the AUB, which was formerly known as the Union of African National Television and Radio Organisations until 2006, holds the broadcasting right to some competitions organized by the Confederation of African Football. Its headquarters is in the Senegalese capital, Dakar.
