Biya sacks longest-serving GM at last!
For 45 years, Ernest Roland Ela Evina has ridden roughshod over the destiny of Centre national d’études et d’expérimentation du machinisme agricole (CENEEMA).
In the wake of strident criticism over the maintenance of some sacresd cows at the helm of corporations teetering on the brink, President Biya last Friday showed Ela Evina the door.
He was replaced by Madame Mebande Bate, née Ekotto Minkouna Andrée Caroline Mélanie in a presidential decree last Friday, 6 December. She is a senior official a tat the ministry of agriculture and rural development.
In a second decree, Abdou Namba was appointed board chairman of CENEEMA.
There exists a law limiting the term of office of GMs of state corporations to nine years, but Ela Evina has maintained that post since 1975 when he was appointed by former president, Ahmadou Ahidjo to the position of GM of CENEEMA.
