State House School.
First Lady rings Christmas bells.
Hello! Christmas is here. This is why the First Lady of Cameroon, Mrs. Chantal Biya, was seen around the premises of the “Les Coccinelles” Primary School at the Unity Palace, on December 19, 2019. Dressed in the colour of the season, Mrs Chantal Biya, Matron of the school, had come to join pupils in the 2019 Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony.
Around an embellished Christmas tree that reflected the colour of the season, the over 90 pupils of the school, together with visiting and former pupils of the school, crowded their dear mother, “Mama Chantal” as he plucked sweets and other goodies from the tree and distributed to them. This was a special moment for the kids and their matron.
The First Lady’s gesture was appreciated by parents, some members of government and particularly pupils who were glad to be at the receiving end. Cameroon’s First Lady has set the ball rolling in the lighting of the 2019 Christmas trees.
The over three-hour event at the State House School which was presided over by the First Lady was rich in Christmas Songs, recitations, dance and sketches all focusing on the Christmas season and its importance. A special happy Christmas song to welcome the First Lady came from Marie Cecile Ndzengue, a member of the Madrigal choir from the Yaounde Cathedral. In succinct displays, the kids, in the official Languages, French and English, showed that they master the social and biblical meaning of Christmas. In songs, “Les Coccinelles” pupils told their audience “happy Christmas”. In a sketch, the kids revealed the history of the birth of Jesus Christ. The pupils narrated that Christmas is a time for joy, reconciliation, sharing and love to all mankind. Through recitations, the pupils told the audience that Jesus was born on Christmas day and his birth has brought true love in the hearts of people. As the world celebrates love, the kids through songs said Christmas is a time for merrymaking, a time for families to come together, a time for special entertainment.
The traditional Christmas tree lighting ceremony was such a happy moment for teachers, parents, pupils and the First Lady as they all chanted Christmas carols and shared gifts. local artists such as “Papy the Next” and “Faya Love” joined the kids in celebration. Faya love’s presentation was an emotional moment for the audience. The blind artist, a student from the University of Dschang, dedicated her songs Stigmatization” to the First Lady whom she calls the mother of all disabled people.
The First Lady took time not just to share a common meal with the pupils, but also to verify their classroom performances. In the midst of Christmas carols, the First Lady and the pupils took souvenir pictures while hoping for another fun-filled Christmas party next year.
