Cameroon celebrates Ambassador Ran Gidor’s three-year mission.
His Excellency Ran Gidor, Ambassador of the State of Israel to Cameroon has come to the end of a three-year diplomatic mission to Cameroon. The ambassador spent the past three years championing his country’s policy to transfer knowledge and technology to young Cameroonians. Their objective is to ameliorate the social and economic situation of young entrepreneurs and innovators. Ambassador Ran Gidor sounded off on the strides made over the last three years. He said “I am proud to say that this has been our top priority for the past three and a half years; identifying these young bright Cameroonians and giving them the tools to promote their businesses and training them on how to create adventures, companies and businesses and how to move forward, how to raise capital and how to connect to the Israeli ecosystem.”
The embassy has stood out as the pace-setter in the initiative to develop local technologies. “I am gratified to see that other embassies have followed suit. They followed our example because when we started three and a half years ago, we were the only ones operating this ecosystem. But now, others joined the effort and there is space for everyone,” the diplomat observed.
Assessing the over three-year term, the ambassador highlighted that they also began working with groups of disabled persons, notably the blind and children with special needs. He also observed that there is still a lot of potential for partnership. “We started cooperation in the fields of entrepreneurship and innovation and there is still a lot of potential in developing this sphere of cooperation,” he concluded.
Just two weeks ago, the embassy injected a new set of 100 high technology young innovators into the business world. This at the fourth edition of the Israel-Cameroon Hitech Entrepreneurship and Innovation training that has seen over 400 young Cameroonians trained on entrepreneurship and innovative technology. Ambassador Ran Gidor hopes his predecessor will continue the endeavour. In his words: “I am sure my successor will continue this theme, cooperating with needy groups, some Human Rights Organisations and Non-Governmental Organisations.” He has been called up for other diplomatic duties at Georgia. According to the outgoing ambassador, he will remember Cameroon for its hard working youths and the beautiful brand of music.
