“Bill comes at appropriate time”- Nfor Tabetando, Chief of Bachuo-Ntai, Manyu Division, South West

No: 462

“Bill comes at appropriate time”-  Nfor Tabetando, Chief of Bachuo-Ntai, Manyu Division, South West Region.

“This Bill which has been tabled by our Head of State has put the population of the South West Region in euphoria. It is salutary, and the people feel that the Head of State often matches his words with action. The bill depicts some of the issues which were seriously discussed during the Major National Dialogue. The Bill has actually come at an appropriate moment to pacify feelings and expectations regarding the content of the special status that was raised. A section of this general code talks of the devolution of powers to the councils and the grassroots. Another part of the document talks about creating and putting in place of the House of Chiefs and the Regional Council. This is another aspect that has given people, particularly the chiefs, a lot of material to say the Head of State knows that the chiefs have a fundamental role to play in the development and growth of our country. The chiefs are satisfied that the Parliament will take care of any lapses found in the Bill, be it a phrase or a sentence which may not be very clear to the ordinary man. We are happy for the Bill. The most important thing we will be asking the Head of State now is that the time of application should not be long as soon as the bill is voted by Parliament.”
