“I thank the government for taking this giant step to talk to us. Some of our brothers who are still in the forest think that if government is coming to talk to us, it will be a means to trick or kill us. That is why they are fighting and are scared. I thank those who came up with the initiative for the government to meet and talk with us. I am very happy to be in town with my people and to receive this honour. This is enough for my friends and brothers to understand that the Cameroon of yesterday is different from the Cameroon of today.
Everything cannot be solved by the gun. After quarrelling and fighting and fighting, we need to sit down and talk. I urge government to forgive me because I know what I have done. I promise government that I will help a hundred per cent to bring peace. There should be no worry about my brothers because I will talk to them and I will bring them here.
