Senator Regina Mundi's Touch of Love relieves 120 IDP Pregnant Women of Pre-Child birth worries.

Assistance to the victims of the Anglophone crisis has of late been pouring in of late from elected representatives of the people. As part of efforts to ease the child birth procedure CPDM senator, Regina Mundi, has championed the cause with the distribution of pre-maternal pregnancy kits to over 120 internally displaced women from the North West region now resident in Bamenda.

The pregnancy kits as explained by the regional delegate for public health for North West, Dr Kingsley Che Soh, include all basic care kits at their moment of birth .The kits which are estimated at over 32.000 francs per piece have been paid into the regional fund for health with cheques issued as an entitlement to the pregnant women at the moment of delivery.

According to the CPDM baron, Senator Regina Mundi, the main aim of the gesture is her growing love for humanity and her desire as a mother to see other women from the rural areas affected by the upsurge go through a hitch- free child bearing process. "I have once been a woman and gave birth at today’s PMI hospital. I understand the pains and challenges of being a mother and cannot pretend to be silent in perilous times like these," she said.

Senator Mundi further said the gesture ties with her pledge to support in the fight against the maternal and infant mortality rate in the region which is fast increasing on a geometric progression. She further added: "We cannot continue to have mothers dying during child birth or children dying due to similar reasons". For her, the fight against infant and maternal mortality is a collective fight and must be tackled by all.

On why only to the pregnant women when we have youths who have taken up arms against the state and many ageing with no food, she said the mother remains the backbone for the shaping of a good society and the gesture is aimed at letting them know pregnancy is not a burden and should not be treated as such."Children are a gift from God and should be given special attention from birth and in the course of raising them. Consequently, neglect on them will mean a society void of youths".

Coming at a time when many CPDM officials who joined her in the senatorial campaigns have left the masses with nothing but illusions to their very promised visions, Ma mundi as she is fondly called, said everyman has a cause to support and whether or not others have shown bad faith it is her role to continue enterprising for the betterment of lives.

The beneficiary IDPs admitted they were safe in their previous abodes and a journey for safety to the North West region was indeed a journey to the wild with little or no hope. Though they lamented the burning of their houses and schools, killings of their loved ones, gun shots and threats of diverse sorts with hospitals shut down they can now boast of a brighter future with the advent of such gestures. Anne Marie Sevidzen just like Enow Esther saluted the move as timely, saying it would go a long way to reduce the cost of child bearing. The latter who after aggressions from the Obang Bafut area had to seek refuge in Bamenda said it is "a stitch in time that saves nine".
