The evolution of football in the North West region will be unfairly told if female football is left in the cupboards. The usual fanfare that characterises the North West regional football though threatened has not been forgotten. From a total of 17 clubs that originally registered for the Cup of Cameroon qualifiers in the North West region, just 4 clubs (Vision Sports, Vision Athletics, Abakwa Girls, and Bafut Queens) took part in the direct knock out game.
North West FECAFOOT officials attributed the absence of over 13 clubs from the competition on the non-delivery of their licences which were long submitted to the central bureau. The final game which was punctuated by heavy down pour was marked by characteristic ball control and collective as well as individual dribbling tactics to the satisfaction of the scanty population that defied the rains and mud to watch the finals. Vision Sports opened and narrowly controlled the score line situation till the blasting of the 90 minutes whistle thanks to Claris Akwi’s 72nd minute goal.
According to the President of Vision Sports FC, Jephter Pase, the ambition of the team is to give the North West region a club at the Division 1 level and this year they will do all in their place to have this dream sealed. "We have been to the national level thrice but are always booted out at the opening phase and this time around we are bent on re-writing female football history in the NW", he added.
The club which counts over 3 years of existence owes its strength to optimism and oneness.
To the team captain, they remain thankful to God Almighty for the tremendous exploits registered and are looking forward to the challenge in the days ahead.
