Government to rationalise company inspections.
In service notes released recently, the Minister of Finance has instructed the Directors General of Taxes and of Customs, as well as the Inspector General at the Ministry of Finance to harmonise inspection visits made to economic operators. The measure is geared towards curbing the harassment of economic operators who have of recent decried multiple control visits from the service. It also seeks to optimize efforts as well as resources. The control missions from the services of the Ministry of Finance would hence harmonise and thus effect joint visits to economic operators. The move which has been saluted by business persons, comes at a time when some officials have abused the controls, using it as a money making opportunity. The step thus puts smiles on the faces of business persons who often feel harassed by several by such teams.
