PM’s Director of Cabinet ‘knighted’.

2020-01-22
No: 467

PM’s Director of Cabinet ‘knighted’.

Balungeli Confiance Ebune, the level-headed Director of Cabinet at the PM’s Office, has been knighted by the traditional rulers of his Ndian constituency.

He was last Friday in Mundemba crowned with the title of “Mukwili”, loosely translated as ‘forerunner of good tidings”.

The traditional rulers said the title was in recognition of his having braved the odds to visit his people and provide them goodies, on the instructions of Prime Minister Joseph Dion Ngute, who is bogged down by state duties.

The visit, announced at short notice, laid to rest speculations that the PM had abandoned his people or avoided going home for security reasons.

The PM’s envoy used the occasion to preach peace, national unity and offer humanitarian assistance to the needy population.

Observers say it was also a veritable campaign weapon for the ruling CPDM party on the eve of the 8 February 2020 twin polls.

Addressing his kith and kin, Balungeli Confiance advised them to regroup, reconcile and engage in actions that would stimulate economic growth and ensure that normalcy returned across Ndian Division.

He urged youths still posing as pockets of resistance to quit the bushes and embrace President Paul Biya’s offer to drop their guns and give peace a chance so that meaningful development can be achieved.

The Director of Cabinet told the people that the Prime Minister dispatched him and the delegation to sincerely thank the people of Ndian for the uncommon support he has enjoyed from home.

“The Prime Minister, Head of Government, dispatched me and the powerful delegation accompanying me  to carry his words of encouragement and gratitude to the people of Ndian for being by him and with him for the past one year..” he said.

Goodies

Reports say the population was thrown into ecstacy when Balungeli Confiance announced the commencement of work on the Kumba-Ekondo Titi-Mundemba road. He disclosed to the crowd that “… the military engineering corps is presently doing the job…This road will start from Kumba through Ekondo titi right through to Mbonge, through Mundemba, through Toko right up to Manyemen…”

Truckloads of mattresses, vegetable oil, rice, medical aids and other foodstuffs were distributed to those who turned out to welcome the PM’s envoy. H.E. Balungeli Confiance Ebune disclosed that all the subdivisions of Ndian Division had their own consignments of goodies which would be distributed in the coming days.

To ensure that the people remained healthy and strong, they were treated to medical examinations and prescriptions made possible by Dr Ebongo Zacheus Nanje, South West delegate for Health, and his team of medical officials.

February 9, 2020 polls:

Coming some three weeks to the February 9, 2020 twin polls, the visit also offered  an opportunity for the PM’s envoy to appeal to the reason of the masses to vote for development. They were schooled on the need to vote and begin enjoying the provisions of the Special Status granted the North West and South West.
