The Chairman of ELECAM’s Electoral Board, Enow Abrams Egbe, has said the body will leave nothing to chance to see to it that campaigns for the February 9 municipal and legislative elections are conducted in strict compliance of the law.
He was speaking in Yaounde on Thursday, January 23, 2020, while chairing the sixth session as of right of the elections management body – ELECAM. The meeting was aimed at putting in place a common strategy that would enable ELECAM to diligently monitor electoral campaigns throughout the national territory.
“We assess the level of preparedness in view of the elections. We spell out the role of every member of ELECAM so that we can handle any eventuality on the day of voting. Our task is to ensure that the electoral law is scrupulously respected throughout this campaign period,” said Enow Abrams Egbe, Chairman of the Electoral Board.
Mr. Enow Abrams Egbe congratulated ELECAM staff on finishing their work in time. He also saluted the efforts being made by the State to protect people and goods before, during and after the elections.
The sixth session as of right of ELECAM culminated in an exchange with political parties to take part in the elections, civil society organisations and the media.
The exchange focused on the need to adopt good conduct throughout the electoral campaigns.
