Anglophone struggle pillar says revolution still on track despite killings and betrayals.

Anglophone struggle pillar says revolution still on track despite killings and betrayals.

Dr. David Makongo, a pillar of the Anglophone struggle says the revolution is still on track because the facts of the revolution are still intact. He said despite the spate of killings from either the Cameroonian army or from ‘friendly fire’ and betrayals from within, we should still keep dreaming about freedom.

“…don't let occasional bad news or the madness of those who have already been brainwashed, bribed or assimilated kill the dream of a whole nation”, he said in a written address posted online. Following is the statement in its entirety:

Today, sanity and serenity in this winning struggle will be restored!!

Fellow SC/Ambazonians, Forget all the attacks and self-inflicted wounds, your revolution is still on track because the facts that form the basis of this revolution are still intact. Before you make any decision in response to the manner in which this revolution has evolved, first remind yourselves why you joined this revolution in the first place? You did not join this revolution because LR military was killing Anglophones or because Ambazonians were betraying or killing each other.

Facts are facts. You joined this revolution because LRC annexed your country SC/Ambazonia in violation of international law and reduced you to mere beggars and strangers in your own land.  The fact therefore, is that you joined this revolution because you wanted to end the occupation, genocide, exploitation, discrimination, marginalization and the annexation of your country by another country. Another fact is that you joined this struggle knowing LRC will not hand over your lands freely without a fight. Similarly, the third indisputable fact is that you joined this struggle knowing fully well LRC will use your brothers to blackmail you, use your elite to intimidate you, use your friends to fight you and deny you your dream of ever restoring your independence and rob you of the opportunity of living in a country you proudly call your own.

It’s because facts are facts that the USA and the international community see present-day Cameroon as a territory with two distinct histories and cultures. Because facts are facts, the USA and the international community refuse to agree with LRC that separatists are a terrorist organisation fighting the Government of LRC. Because facts are facts, LRC has done everything to push back the USA and the international community by stating that this is an internal conflict but no one accepts it. Instead, America supports the Swiss Initiative and wants an inclusive dialogue that addresses the root causes of the conflict as the only solution for a sustainable resolution of the ongoing armed conflict.

So my dear friends, I submit to you all that no matter how many people LR continues to kidnap, burn, kill, rape maim or take ransom from; no matter how many restoration groups turn their weapons against each other instead of defending their stated goal and ideology, no one can change the facts because facts are facts. Why waste your time fighting each other or denying the facts? Denying the truth or working against the genuine objectives behind this revolution will never work in anyone's favour because you cannot change the facts.

It is true that people tend to forget the facts and remember only the story. This is the reason why we hear a lot of noise out there today. But what people must remember most is that only a few dedicated people ought to remember the facts. And the fewer the people who remember the facts, the better and the stronger the case for total and complete restoration. Facts do not cease to exist simply because those they do not favor ignore them.

With the plain truth and all the forgone in mind, the people of Ambazonia should know that this revolution is on track. Don't hold any grudges either against those who attack us externally or internally but always remember the facts and the truth and remain focused on the goal. Pay less attention to and put less worries onto anything you see trying to destroy your dreams or delay your freedom. If you have never tasted a bad apple before, you will never know how to appreciate a good apple. To understand life, you have to experience life. To appreciate liberty and freedom, you have to experience oppression and suppression.

Some of us out there because of occasional bad news either from ground zero or from foreign cables are quick to say "I'm done with this struggle," but I don't know anyone who refuses to eat today because they had no food yesterday or who refuses to go to work today because they failed to go yesterday or who refuses to dress up in the morning just because they slept naked last night. None.

My friends, just like the air we all breathe or the water we all drink, freedom is indispensable to your survival. And the freedom you enjoy in your own country is of critical importance for the survival of our historic and cultural heritage as Anglophones or Ambazonians. So don't let occasional bad news or the madness of those who have already been brainwashed, bribed or assimilated kill the dream of a whole nation. A dream for which so many women have been raped, so many boys maimed, so many homes burned down, so many people kidnapped or killed and many others either displaced internally or externally as refugees.

Think about all the lives we have lost, think about all the friends in jail, think about all the families now living in bushes and abroad as refugees, think about the women they have raped, think about the homes LRC has burned down, think about the villages LRC has wiped out, think about the freedom we have been denied and the future we cannot guarantee our own children as parents following our annexation by LRC and be patient with the bad ones amongst us whose hearts we cannot see inside with our naked eyes.

Sometimes you have to go through the worst to get to the best. This is how God made this world. If our hearts were not wild, God wouldn't have used our ribs to cage them. No matter the delay, no matter the occasional bad news from ground zero  SC/Ambazonia will still be free!!

The task to instill love and collaboration in between your leaders has already started. Sanity and serenity must return within the ranks of all the bonafide children of SC/Ambazonia. Reconciliation and forgiveness will from now on take centre stage as necessary ingredients for freedom and restoration of the independence of Ambazonia.

May God bless you'll abundantly!!

Dr. David Makongo
