Mbonge Council Scores 95.25% in budget realization!

By Nnah Gillian Tita.

Mbonge Council has proved that they are the best Council in Meme Division. The Council scored 95.24% in the 2019 Financial year.

This was disclosed by the Mayor of the Mbonge Council HRH Daniel Mokambe recently during the Council's session for the presentation of the 2019 Administrative and Management account

The Mayor noted that the Mbonge Council budget was initially balanced in revenue and expenditure at the sum of FCFA 893.412.800(eight hundred and ninety three million four hundred and twelve thousand francs). He disclosed that the Council benefited from an increase of a special authorization of FCFA 73.825.398 which led to the final budget of FCFA 967.238.198.Out of this amount the Council realised the total sum of FCFA 921.115.933,giving a percentage rate of 95.25% in the 2019 Administrative and Management account.

Chief Mokambe noted that the Council won a cash prize of FCFA 25 million from the breadbasket for which a deliberation has been put in place to authorize PNDP and the Mayor to carry out an envisaged warehouse at the Mbonge Beach.

The Council, during the 2019 Financial year, supplied benches and teachers' desks to G.S Mbalangi Group 1,constructed an integrated health centre at Bakumba which is still ongoing; constructed a bridge on Elibaliba stream in Mbonge Marumba, a block of 2 classrooms in G.S Mbalangi Group II,and 5 blocks of 9 stores at Mbonge Marumba.

Mayor Mokambe noted that despite the successful 2019 financial year, the Council is still affected by the ongoing socio-political crisis. He said the Council can timidly collect local revenue as the terrain is rough and vast coupled with the difficulty of bad and seasonal roads.

The Mayor opines that the Government's intention to speed up decentralization and with the granting of Special Status to the North West and South West Regions, most of the worries shall be resolved.

Mayor Daniel Mokambe said the Council started with 45 Councillors at the beginning of their mandate but ended with the demise of 4, leaving 41 Councillors to end the mandate.

Taking the rostrum, the Second Assistant Senior Divisional Officer for Meme Ngonje Hermia, congratulated the Councillors on a wonderful job but noted that the Council witnessed a drop in revenue collection. She lauded the Mayor, Municipal Treasurer, Secretary General.
