Government assists, encourages IDPs in NW.
While politicians and campaigners were promoting their individual ideologies, explaining their political work and asking for votes, the government did not lose sight of the pressing need for the return life in the troubled North West Region of the country. The plight of internally displaced persons did not escape the government. It is against this backdrop that the government intensified special assistance to IDPs in Bamenda since Monday, February 3, 2020.
Governor Adolphe Lele Lafrique and his collaborators who in their various turns within last week handed the assistance to the IDPs, exhorted them to defeat fear, come out massively and cast their votes, thus participating in the necessary process towards the implementation of the Special Status that has been granted the North West and South West Regions of the country.
For his part, the Secretary General in the North West Governor’s Office, Viang Mekala, said on Tuesday that the assistance should speak volumes of government message of trust the IDPs should have in the administration and the security measures it has put in place throughout the electoral period and the need for them to defy ghost towns and lockdowns and, above all, the necessity of coming out without fear and performing their civic duty on February 9, 2020.
