Anglophone Crisis: Ambazonia activists stage scanty White House protest after “locking down” millions In North West, South West.

After ordering for a lockdown of Cameroon’s North West and South West Regions for six days, some activists who seek to make the aforementioned regions an independent country called Ambazonia staged a scanty protest at the White House in Washington DC Friday, February 7, 2020.

According to organisers, the protest was in solidarity with the people of the restive regions that had been ordered by separatists to stay at home on pain of death. They said the imposed lockdown is to frustrate the February 9, 2020 municipal and legislative elections as well National Youth Day on February 11 but campaigns went on as planned and government gave assurances that the polls will go on as planned.

While the people ground schools, businesses and sacrifice their own freedoms in respect of the instructions of the separatist “leaders” based abroad, very few activists could afford to spare thirty minutes of their own time to attend the White House protest.

Locals say they are the most hit given that they cannot access food, medical care, education and the basics of life during this period while those giving them the instructions are enjoying the good things of life in the Diaspora.

In an emotional outburst, Eric Tataw Tano, an Ambazonia activist, said 99% of those who pass for leaders of the separatist struggle are self-seeking. Eric Tataw said less than 50 people showed up for the protest even when millions of people had been locked down in their homes back in Cameroon.

His words: “Ebenezer Akwanga, Samuel Ikome Sako, Boh Herbert and others are in Maryland. Are they not closer to this venue? This is so crazy. It is not normal. It is a shame… the first enemies we have before Paul Biya are these people in Maryland, these people who are making huge money from the revolution. All they know to do is to write long messages. They only come to collect money, eat and drink.

“We have people who claim to be leaders but are only interested in collecting and embezzling money. People call themselves leaders but do not represent us. After locking down the people, they cannot even turn up for a solidarity protest.

“Let us be honest. Look at this population and the mobilisation we did. If we cannot be here, it means there is nothing happening on ground zero. Samuel Sako, Ebene zer Akwanga, Elvis Kometa and Boh Herbert who call themselves leaders have destroyed the revolution.

“After announcing lockdown, they cannot sacrifice even one or two hours for a protest. It is bad and poor that we are in Maryland, we have asked them to lockdown and are unable to show up for a protest. 99 per cent of those who call themselves leaders in the diaspora are only interested in the dollar.”

John Mbah Akuroh, said to be the brain behind the protest, took the floor and read a memo written for them by Prof. Carlson Anyangwe. In the memo, he begs the international community to provide humanitarian assistance for the people of Cameroon’s North West and South West regions.

Akuroh explained that the protest was in solidarity with those who are obeying the lockdown imposed by them. “There is genocide in slow motion going on in the North West and South West Regions,” Akuroh said.
