The management of CAMTEL has placed the year 2020 under the battle-cry of Consolidation and Extension, taking the commitment to consolidate on the gains of 2019, a year marked by rationalization of management and launching of the Operation Transfiguration of the Image of the company.
Launching the company’s strategy for 2020 in Yaounde last Friday, Madam Judith Yah Sunday Epse Achidi, General Manager of the company announced that they were targeting a turnover of 115.2 billion and recovery of 93% of CAMTEL’s debts which in 2019 stood at 576.6 billion FCFA.
Still concerning the financial axis, the company intends to put in place the Programme Budget. To this end, she called on the implication of everyone in the continuation and completion of the reliability of the billing and specialized links; accelerate the commercialization of prepaid services; monetize the submarine cables and transport infrastructure and continue lobbying to obtain a licence for CAMTEL.
Concerning the customer axis, CAMTEL intends to fidelise at least 85 percent of customers and strive to satisfy at least 80 percent of them. To attain this objective, the quality of service rendered will be improved by stabilizing energy and reducing incidents on the network.
In terms of the processes, CAMTEL intends to conserve the ISO 9001/2015 certification and put in placed analytical accounting.
Concerning human resources, management has set the bar quite high, targeting the increase of bonuses by 25 percent and ensuring effective presence at work is at least 95 percent. It is also targeting 100 percent productivity for each worker; reinforcing ethics and the fight against fraud and corruption. The CAMTEL GM expressed regret that by the close of 2019, the company’s network came under attack, causing repeated disruptions of services in very sensitive national institutions in Yaounde. She reminded the public that the CAMTEL network is “our collective asset” and so must be protected and safeguarded jealously.
Madam Yah Sunday said the company’s ambition was to become leaders in the digital business in the central African sub-region. She said her doors were open to the press with whose collaboration she intended to build a New CAMTEL.
Counting the achievements for 2019, she cited the rationalization of management through cutting of superfluous spending and correction of lapses in the customer management system.
Another high point of 2018, she said was the launching of the Operation Transfiguration of the Image of CAMTEL in Yaounde and Douala. Key activities included improvement of SAV; repair of more than 3000 lines of copper and 2600 lines of optic fibre. Another milestone was the capture of 68 percent of the DRC clientele. The year also saw innovation of the in the treatment of customer demands, training of 385 members of staff on the use of tools.
But perhaps the biggest of the achievements was the increase in revenue by 200percent compared to 2018.
The encouraging results led to clearing of part of the social debt to the state through taxes; payment of years of personnel’s accrued social benefits at the CNPS; progressive payment of staff pension; and payment of creditors.
