Anglophone crisis: Senator condemns partisan role of army in twin polls.
The SDF was able to win the two seats in Boyo Division of the North West thanks to instructions given by the CPDM hierarchy for its militants to vote the SDF candidates after the ruling party’s list for the parliamentary election was eliminated by ELECAM for non-respect of sociological composition. But when it came to the municipals, the CPDM which was fielding candidates won all of them landslide, to the chagrin of the SDF.
Senator Ngam Honoré who hails from that Division thinks the CPDM victory was facilitated by the military deployed there.
In an open letter to the Minister of Defence, Ngam protests “against the partisan role of the Defense Forces during the 9th February 2020 municipal and parliamentary elections in the North West Region.”
She said additional defence forces were deployed to the North West “with sole purpose to vote and secure CPDM hegemony.”Following is the open letter:

To: The Minister of Defence
Yaoundé - Cameroon
Your Excellency,
I write to you in protest against the partisan role of the Defense Forces during the 9th February 2020 municipal and parliamentary elections in the North West Region.
Additional troops estimated at over 1000 were deployed in this region ostensibly for security reasons. An evaluation of the mission in the entire region and especially in Boyo Division shows that there was no significant upgrade in the level of security.
On the contrary, the security situation deteriorated. The highway to Fundong for example has been blocked for close to three weeks now. In prelude and on voting day thousands of voters were unable to access polling stations while members of the defense forces selectively escorted members and supporters of the CPDM to polling stations.
This leads to the logical conclusion that additional troops were deployed with sole purpose to vote and secure CPDM hegemony.
In the light of the foregoing it is palpably evident that efforts towards a military solution have failed, making the case for a political solution to the crisis imperative. The wellbeing of the good people of this region overrides CPDM phoney political dominance.
