Cameroonian student survives coronavirus in China.
A Cameroonian student resident in China who had been infected by the deadly coronavirus has regained his health after receiving treatment, the Chinese Embassy in Cameroon has said.
A message posted on the Face book Page of the Chinese Embassy confirms the student is out of danger after successful treatment. “We can confirm that a Cameroonian student enrolled at Yangtze University has been infected with the new coronavirus. After receiving medical treatment, he is now in good health, and the Cameroonian side has been constantly informed”, the message read. The 21-year-old Pavel DaryI Sem Kenou has been under intensive care at the Jenghzou hospital in China after he was diagnosed of the virus recently.
During a press conference in Yaounde on February 3, the Chinese Ambassador to Cameroon, Wang Yingwu, said a patient who has survived the virus needs to undergo further tests and put under surveillance before any reintegration into the society. His outing came just days after the Minister of Public Health, Manaouda Malachie, reassured Cameroonians of measures taken by the government to ensure the virus does not reach Cameroon.
He rolled out a series of hygienic precautions for Cameroonians to take while he also assured that all necessary measures have been taken at the various ports of entry in Cameroon. The government of Cameroon has thus set up an epidemiological surveillance system at the main airports and port points of entry to ensure the likely early detection of coronavirus cases that may occur throughout the country.
