Ensuring Peace, Stability: Minister, UN official exchange ideas.
External Relations Minister, Lejeune Mbella Mbella, on February 19, 2020 accorded an audience to the United Nations Systems Coordinator for Cameroon, Allegra Baiocchi, during which both personalities exchanged views on guaranteeing peace and security in the country especially in the North West, South West and Far North Regions.
Giving further details on their discussions, Allegra Biocchi said she exchanged with the Minister on the situation in the North West, South West and Far North Regions of Cameroon with the Minister underscoring efforts being put in place by the government to bring back stability and peace with regards to the recent happenings in the North West precisely in Ngarbuh village, Ndu Sub-division in the Donga-Mantung Division, she said: “The Minister assured me of government’s responsibility to fully protecting civilians. I also reiterated the message of the UN Secretary General and our encouragement to undertake an independent and objective investigation and the availability of the UN to support Cameroon”. Allegra Baiocchi further stated she held talks with the Minister on progress being made in the area of decentralization and the reconstruction, reintegration and demobilization plan.
The Minister equally received in a separate audience the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Morocco to Cameroon, Mostafa Bouh. Bilateral relations between Cameroon and the Kingdom of Morocco came under review with the Moroccan Ambassador and the Minister during the audience.
Mostafa Bouh said Cameroon and Morocco collaborate in several domains such as intelligence exchange, agriculture and technology.
