Flanked by administrative authorities and sub heads of various units ranked as such, NW governor, Adolphe Lele Lafrique, joined the military family at the 5th Joint Military Sector in payment of last respects to some fallen soldiers who lost their lives on the night of the 10 of June from armed militants of the islamic sect Boko Haram. Biambeh Felix, Ambe Abraham, Nkwafor Mohamed and Ajong Fidelis all saw their demise on the night of the said date in the Logone and Chari division of the Far North region.
According to Governor Adolphe Lele Lafrique they were examples of diligent soldiers whose commitment to protect the territorial integrity of the state cannot be measured, reason why they were part of a detachment to the troubled region.
“To the families you have lost a son, brother, husband and a loved one but to the nation we have lost diligent soldiers," he said. Though expressing discontent at what has befallen them, he reassured the families of government’s support in meeting their daily challenges. The 4 soldiers who were part of a 17-man military that fell to the attack all hail from the North West region, reason why their mortal remains were sent for eventual honours and burial .
The SDO for Mezam, Songa Rene, who presented the head of state’s speech, described the fallen soldiers as exemplary,unique and dynamic as they took upon themselves to fight for the sake of many.
Owing to the Boko Haram insurgency and the Anglophone crisis, it should be noted, many soldiers have lost their lives keeping so many asking the question: when will God Almighty finally intervene for a definite end to the upheavals?
