Roger Tafam is pioneer city mayor for Bafoussam.
Roger Tafam, a senior customs officer, is the first elected city mayor (super mayor) for Bafoussam. He takes over from Emmanuel Nzete for the next five years.
Roger Tafam who contested on the ticket of the CPDM was elected last Tuesday 25 February by councillors drawn from all the three councils of Bafoussam. The 54-year-old customs officer was the sole candidate on the list. Not even the SDF which won the populous Bafoussam I Council dared field a candidate to challenge him.
The Bamougoum was voted by 124 of the 126 councillors. There were two null ballots.
A product of Enam, he was until his new functions, customs chief of sector for Littoral. Married and father of 3 children, he will be assisted SDF Mouafo (1st deputy) and CPDM’s Negou (second deputy).
