PM describes HAUWEI as key partner in Cameroon’s ICT sector.
The Prime Minister, Dr. Joseph Dion Ngute, says the Chinese based telecom giant, Huawei, is playing a key role in Cameroon’s efforts toward becoming a digital economy. He made the statement in Yaounde on Tuesday, February 25, 2020, after receiving in audience, the General Manager of Huawei Cameroon, Du Yin.
Both personalities appreciated the implementation of the strategic partnership agreement in Information and Communication Technology (ICTs) in Cameroon signed with the company in Beijing, China on September3, 2018.
The General Manager of Huawei Cameroon said that after expressing satisfaction with the positive results obtained, Cameroon’s PM appreciated the contribution of Huawei in the construction of telecommunication infrastructure.
According to him, the contribution is evident in Huawei’s social commitment and citizenship responsibility in Cameroon, especially in the transfer of ICT skills to young Cameroonians in universities. Dr Joseph Dion Ngute said Cameroon is delighted to have Huawei as a strategic partner in the ICTs sector and appreciated the commitment of the company to transfer competences to Cameroonian youths within the framework of the programme “HUAWEI ICTs Academy”.
Commenting on the implementation of the strategic partnership agreement in Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) in Cameroon, the General Manager of Huawei Cameroon, disclosed that in the past years, Huawei had trained 1, 000 students in Cameroon and some have had ICT certificates. He said they have three steps to carry out ICTs training programmes in Cameroon which include ICTs Academy and ICTs competition.
He said they would send top talents to the African region and China to compete and his would encourage them to study hard. He disclosed that some top talents would be sent to Egypt to take part in ICTs competition.
