Yaounde Archbishop launches sanitation campaign.

It was on a good footing that the official launch of the hygiene campaign dubbed Topo+ which means that all dirt into the trashcan began. This initiative was instituted by the Metropolitan Archbishop of Yaounde, His Grace Jean Mbarga, as a way of enhancing government’s action in the cleaning of towns. Launched on Friday, March 6, 2020 at the Saint John XXIII Center Mvolye, the campaign was not only out to ensure cleanliness in the environment but individually as well such that through this others may find peace as the famous saying goes “cleanliness is next to Godliness.”

The campaign was launched in line with the year’s Lenten letter which had as major target to seek Jesus in the question, “Jesus, where are you?” The Archbishop reminded all present of God’s 101 titles and urged them to seek God’s face in everything.

Present at this launch were pupils and students from primary and secondary schools who were the main target of the sanitary campaign.

To mark words with action, the Archbishop coordinated the cleanup campaign that began from the Mvolye Basillica right down to the Saint Benedict Bilingual College Mvolye where he was received by all the students of this institution. This gesture, the Archbishop said, “is to make it known to Cameroonians that you do not only have to be clean spiritually, but also physically.”

His Grace Jean Mbarga equally made it known to all Christians that every month and day of the week was consecrated to a mystery with the month of March consecrated to Saint Joseph. The students and pupils expressed satisfaction for this gesture of the Archbishop as it was a lesson to them. The presence of trashcans at all corners of the school yard was well appreciated.
