UDP Chairman sends strong message to Etoudi.

According to United Democratic Party (UDP) Chairman El Hadj Lawan Bako, the dehumanising acts that have worsened the ongoing Anglophone crisis partially stem up from the lies-telling from some members of the political bench of the Unity Palace.

Speaking at a press briefing at his Ntarinkon neighbourhood,the UDP Chairman appealed to members of the political wing of the CPDM to desist from telling lies to the head of state on the cause of the prevailing crisis. To the UDP party chair all such acts are geared towards consolidating their positions rather than attaining a long-lasting solution to the crisis."Considering the fact that the Anglophone crisis is a political problem, the UDP therefore urges President Biya to call for an inclusive dialogue in view of putting an end to the crisis", he said.

He recalled that during the restive 1990s where in Cameroonians and some political parties clamoured for a sovereign national conference in view of addressing issues relating to the constitution, he joined Adamu Ndam Njoya to strongly clamour for tripartite talks to which H.E Paul Biya finally yielded. He said the resultant outcome of the Tripartite was the revision of the Cameroon constitution. Why then is it difficult to hold such a conference when it comes to the Anglophone problem,? He queried.

The UDP Chairman accused some Anglophone ministers in NW/SW of have induced regional delegates into furnishing the head of state with lies about the crisis, claiming "amba fighters have been neutralised owing to their infighting and lack of ammunition".

He said all of this has proven false as separatists fighters have succeeded in shutting down administrative offices in so many divisions of the North West region and continue to strive in power consolidation in the divisions.

The last elections saw few ELECAM offices opened in these communities owing to separatist domination, said.
For elections to hold hitch-free, Lawan Bako said"The UDP calls for a discontinuation of the proceedings against some MRC militants and supporters so as to enable a free political and elections climate ". He also urged Professor Maurice Kamto to use the power of wisdom in view of engaging a meaningful dialogue as a means to avoid untold suffering and bloodshed.

Lawan Bako urged President Paul Biya to postpone the holding of elections until the situation in the North West and South West regions is attended to.

While hoping for an end to the crises, El Hadji Lawan Bako condemned the calls for the setting up of a transitional government by some political parties like the SDF."They were actively engaged in the presidential campaigns and thereafter accepted the results. How then can they come back 7 months after to request for a transitional government"? he said.

The UDP Chairman had no kind words for H.E. Paul Atanga Nji, minister of territorial administration. He questioned how f after declaring about two years ago that there is no Anglophone problem he now finds himself at the head of a structure to dish out humanitarian aid to a people he is on record to have said have no problem.To him, Minister Atanga Nji remains one of the brains behind the lies about an apt distribution of the aid in the various divisions.

Bako said many of the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) have opted to boycott any such donations.

He further condemned Minister Lejeune Mbella Mbella's outing in which he said the NW and SW regions make up only 3.5 million inhabitants. "Where did he get these figures, given that results of the 2015 census have never been proclaimed?” Bako queried.
