Passengers urged to respect health recommendations.
Below is a press release from the Ministry of Public Health:
The Minister of Public Health hereby informs the passengers of the Air France flight (AF 900) which landed at the Yaounde Nsimalen International Airport on 17 March, 2020 at 8:30 p.m., from Roissy-Charles-De-Gautle, having on board 198 persons that this flight is considered to be at risk by competent services. Indeed, among the passengers, 3 suspected cases were tested positive to Covid – 19.
In any case, the Minister of Public Health invites the passengers of the said flight to kindly abide by the recommended quarantine measures, and to urgently dial 1510 to be imperatively evaluated for COVID-19 by specific services.
As such, a special sampling centre shall be set up without delay at the Yaoundé Multi-purpose Sports Complex, in the strict respect of international health regulations.
The Minister of Public Health avails this opportunity once more to call upon all people who travelled from countries at risk and their respective families to behave in a more responsible manner in order to facilitate the work of the response mechanism and protect the community. They are advised to respect the 14-day quarantine period before resuming any activity and entering into contact with people.
He hereby urges the population to increase vigilance and follow hygiene rules.
