Mezam Mayors warned to shun mismanagement.
Seven newly elected mayors at the helm of councils in Mezam Division have taken oath to begin work at their various councils. They include Mayor Felix Mbigha of Bamenda I, Chenwi Peter of Bamenda II, Fonguh Cletus of Bamenda III, HRH Fon Samkia Elvis of Santa, Ngwakongo Lawerence of Bafut, Tanjong Martin of Tubah and Achombang Tambeng Paul of the Bamenda City Council. They were on Thursday March 12, 2020 sworn in together with their deputies and other council officials.
The Mayors during the swearing-in ceremony were called upon to perform their duties in respect of the law. The presiding magistrate, Therese Bikele, reminded them to avoid conflicts at all costs, mismanagement, work in the interest of their population, maintain council property and improve on the management of the council resources, among others. She added that the oath-taking is a covenant between the person taking the oath and God.
They were challenged to perform their duties with moral rectitude and with fear of the almighty God to the interest of the people they are called upon to lead. They were equally reminded to ensure that all civil status booklets are forwarded to the Legal Department at the end of each year for scrutiny.
The New City Mayor of Bamenda, AchombangTambeng Paul, said together with his team, Bamenda would experience a better look. He equally used the opportunity to thank the people of Bamenda for their mark of confidence bestowed on him, adding that he would work hard to change the image of the city of Bamenda. He called on the city dwellers to collaborate with the council to clean the city and give it a beautiful look.
