NW women mobilised to be peace builders.
The Centre for Advocacy in Gender Equality and Action for Development, (CAGEAD) is at the centre of a campaign that inspires hope and calls stakeholders to enhance visibility for women peace builders.
The event on March 12, 2020 featured the Executive Coordinator of CAGEAD, Waa Clautilda Andiensa presenting the four pillars (SOAR) of the campaign which mobilizes communities to ensure the safety of women peace builders. It is also about fulfilling obligations to include women peace builders in peace processes and security policy making, appreciation for them and helping matters with resources that enhance the independence of women-led peace and security challenges rocking the North West and South West Regions of Cameroon. Wirba Arsan prescribed love for one another as the way forward to rediscover the path of normalcy where peace opens a new chapter for opportunities in progress, prosperity and sustainable development. Partner civil society organization, like SWOT, Hedecs, CCMN that filed out to cheer the campaign launch shared experiences and challenges that speak in efforts by women peace builders.
It was also a rare moment for the “Fumbang” royal dance from Kom and the emerging musician, Lionele, to showcase song and dance that appeals for guns to be dropped for problems to be solved in the North West and South regions. Also, to thank for the call to action campaign is the International Civil Society Action Network (ICAN) which excels in advancing women’s rights, peace and security. The “Standby women peace builders” campaign is a product of the UN Security Council, Resolution 1925.
