COVID-19: Potential vectors of transmission.

 The cleaning of devices used daily that harbour germs and viruses is imperative for the fight against the rapid spread of the Covid-19

Smartphone, earpiece, keyboard, mouse, laptop, Game console, smart watches and Desktop PC are some of the devices that we use on a daily basis, though at different degrees, thus making them potential carriers of infections, germs and viruses, especially during this period when the country is hit by the Coronavirus pandemic. The life span of the virus on non-porous surface is days Thus, these working tools need to be cleaned so as to reduce the spread of the virus given that man uses them every day. Smart phones, earpieces and laptops are inherent to humans as they use them often. How to clean these devices as a means to flight against the spread of the Covid-19 is what should be applicable by all.

Smart phones/tablets: These are the most common devices that are used at all moments of the day. Most often, the hands are cleaned but smart phones ignored regardless of the fact that they harbor germs.

So manufacturers generally recommend wiping them down with distilled water and a barely textured microfiber cloth and then using cotton swabs to clean around crevices like the edges of the screen and buttons. Don’t spray your devices directly, and avoid getting drips of moisture in any openings. Other products that can be used are phone sanitizers and sterilizers that are available.

Headphones/Earphones: These devices are equally used alongside phones and tablets. They are sometimes exchanged amongst persons as such facilitate the transmission of germs. Aside from being coated in sweat and wax, they’re likely making your germ-filled objects commute with you. It is thus advisable to go over them with a microfiber cloth dampened with a little water. Another way to clean it is to grab the same solution you made for your phone, spray it on one of those disposable microfiber cloths and wipe down the entire surface.

Keyboard and mouse: To clean these computer components, you disconnect everything and then start with a shake to knock loose any debris and move on to disinfectant wipes. Avoid using harsh cleaning chemicals or any type of bleach, as you might damage the finish of your gadgets. Keyboards and mice aren’t usually waterproofed in the same way that phones are, so keep moisture to a minimum and make sure you properly dry everything off.

Thus, it is imperative for all, not only to take care of our hands, face, body, but also to take care of the things around us that we use on a daily basis. This is such that we can be able reduce the rate of transmission of the coronavirus.
