COVID-19 News: Government to accelerate screening exercise.
The Government of Cameroon is set to accelerate the screening exercise to determine COVID-19 cases in the weeks ahead.
This follows that arrival last Thursday March 27 of kits that were donated by Chinese billionaire Jack Ma to help fight the outbreak of the COVID-19.
In total, 100.000 masks, 20.000 screening kits and 1000 protective suits were received at the Yaounde Nsimalen International Airport.
Receiving the items, the Secretary General at the Ministry of Public Health, Mrs Sinata Koulla Shiro, said the kits provide a big boost in government’s fight against the pandemic.
She said health workers will be better equipped as they take centre stage in the fight against the virus while screening will equally be accelerated.
In his daily press briefing the next day, the Minister of Public Health Dr Malachie Manaouda, revealed plans are underway to ensure the screening exercise is taken into neighbourhoods and all households are screened.
The Minister said coordination teams at the various regional levels will step up work in the weeks ahead to facilitate screening in other parts of the country and get results faster than before.
