Cameroonian movies to get more online prominence.
A project to give more online prominence to Cameroonian movies has been launched by the Cameroon Media Users Group. The project, WikCiné, recently launched at the Goethe Institute in Yaounde seeks to give more visibility to cinema actors in the country.
According to the co-founder of the Cameroon Media Users Group, Armand Fodouop, a team has been set up to that effect to collect information on stakeholders in the film business in Cameroon in order to build their online profile. “It’s very common today to search information on events, persons or various works online. Stakeholders in the movie industry in Cameroon usually have works that do not cross our frontiers not because they are not good but because they lack hat online exposure. Wikiciné is here to open the doors of Cameroon cinema to the rest of the World,“ Armand Fodouop said.
“We will go out to collect information as much as possible from targeted cinema actors and will proceed with writing articles on Wikiciné and progressively build their online profile,” he added. Given that the month of March is decided for women, the Cameroon Media Users Group brought eight women who have made their mark in Cameroon cinema to launch the Wikiciné project. Key cinema women like Massan A Bikiko, Tatiana Matip, Elise Kamenia shared their experiences all though their careers with the Wikiciné team. They all appreciated the initiative which they said will put Cameroon cinema on the spotlight and help to promote talents to the rest of the World. “We will organize similar workshops in the month ahead which will enable us collect not only stories but equally pictures in order to build the profile of these great actors of our movie industry, Armand Foudoup said.
