High cost of laboratory testing for COVID-19: Cameroonian medic urges gov’t to consider preventive treatment by chloroquine and Azithromycin!
With the rising cases of COVID-19 in Yaounde and given the high cost of laboratory testing for the pandemic, a Cameroonian medic has recommended preventive treatment by chloroquine and Azithromycin.
“It follows that it is of paramount importance for the government of Cameroon, through the Ministry of Public Health, to seriously consider a combination of chloroquine and Azithromycin as a Home Intermittent Preventive Treatment (HIPT) for exposed community members and patients showing non-specific symptoms such as fever, sore throat, dry cough and/or flu-like symptoms, as a key strategy for treating COVID-19 infection in Cameroon”, Michael A G Boyo, Executive President and Founder, Higher Institute of Applied Medical Sciences (IAMS) Buea, proposes.
