Modified end-of-year exams calendar disclaimed!
The ministers of basic and secondary education have disclaimed a modified timetable for school end-of-course exams widely circulated on the social media.
In a joint press release signed by Laurent Serge Etoundi Ngoa, minister of basic education, and Nalova Lyonga, minister of secondary education, yesterday, 8 April, the education community is warned against giving any credence to such information, adding that only the Prime Minister, Head of Government, could take any such decision, on instructions of the Head of State, in the wake of the fight against COVID-19.
They consequently called on stakeholders to give no value to such a document circulating over the social media.
Nalova Lyonga went further to state on CRTV Radio that the document was fake and so should be ignored.
According to the “fake” document, GCE Practicals would have begun on 29 June 2020 and ended on 15 July, while the written exams would have started from 16 July and ended on 1st August 2020. Marking would have commenced on 2 August and publication of results would have been on 11 September 2020.
For exams under the control of the BACC Board (OBC), Baccalaureats Général orals would have taken place on 13 July, while the written part would have been from 14 to 17 July 2020. The practicals for Baccalaureats Général would have been from 21 to 24 July, while marking to publication would have been from 21 July to 22 August 2020.
Meanwhile, schools resumption for the third term would have been on Monday 20 April 2020 and end of school year would have been on 5 June 2020.
