Hon. Verla Lukong Fostine, MP for Jakiri Special Constituency:
Hon. Verla Lukong Fostine, MP for Jakiri Special Constituency.
Born on 03/05/1969, Verla Lukong is a teacher by profession. She is married and mother of seven children. Holder of a Teacher Grade I Certificate (CAPIEMP) obtained from GTTC Bamenda in 1995, Hon. Verla is an Ex-student of Our Lady of Lourdes Secondary School (OLLSS) Mankon, just like her mentor, H. E. Asheri Kilo. She obtained her A/L in 1993 from GHS Kumbo.
Her professional career has seen her teach in GNS Mensai (2010-2015), GNS Yer (2007-2010), GS Nilap-Akum (2002-2007), and GS Kingomen (1996-2002). Until her engagement to become MP, she was Head Teacher at GPNS Mbve since 2015.
Politically, she has been section treasurer for WCPDM Bui IV since 2016. Since 2011, she has been President of “BONG-ABAA” women’s group Yer. In 2013, she was CPDM candidate for municipal elections in Yer. She was Sub-Section President of WCPDM Yer between 2011-2016. She has mastery in women and gender issues and is a great mobiliser of womenfolk.
