Cameroon witnesses steady rise of Coronavirus recoveries.
Cameroon’s fight against the COVID-19 is taking the right direction with a steady rise in the number of patients who have recovered from the virus.
As at Thursday, April 16, over 200 patients had recovered from the virus according to the Minister of Public Health, Dr Malachie Manaouda.
“The Government continues to make every effort to control the pandemic. We must also do our part ,” Dr Malachie Manaouda said, adding that over thirty patients are on oxygen in the various health centres while the death rate has gone up to 17.
During the daily press briefing, Doctor Alain Georges Etoundi Mballa, Director of the fight against illnesses, epidemic and pandemics at the Ministry of Public Health explained the rise in the number of recovered cases recently shows that Cameroon’s approach in handling the cases is effectively working.
However, he warned Cameroonians not to be carried away by the figures but rather continue to strictly respect the measures put in place by the government to prevent the spread of the virus, notably the wearing of protective gears.
To continue with the effective mechanism of handling the situation, the Ministry of Public Health said it will continue with the systematic screening exercise that it started last week in Douala so as to be able to detect more cases and isolate them from spreading the virus to the rest of the population.
According to Dr Etoundi Mballa, more testing kits will be made available in the days ahead in orders to enable a massive screening in the other regions affected as it was done in Douala recently.
