FECAFOOT assists 1000 local players financially.
The Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT) has extended a hand of help to the local players of the elite 1 and 2 as well as the women’s football championship.
In a communiqué published by FECAFOOT last Friday, in collaboration with the Cameroon Transitional Technical Committee (TTC) who are in charge of the local football in Cameroon, the football governing body requested that a list of 25 personnel for elite 1 and 2 clubs and 20 personnel for the women’s clubs be presented to FECAFOOT.
The press release which was signed by FECAFOOT Secretary General, Benjamin Banlock, says after the suspension of sporting events following concertations with CAF and FIFA due to the coronavirus, the football championship was halted.
The suspension of the championships has deprived players of the main source of revenue, reason for the special financial support. According to informed sources, the sum of FCFA 40 million will be distributed to players. Almost all clubs have sent in their lists of players.
FECAFOOT plans to pay FCFA 50,000 to each elite one player, 30,000 to each elite two player and FCFA 25,000 to each player of the women’s topflight championship.
To ensure that players receive the money, FEAFOOT will send the money directly to their mobile phone accounts as sent to them.
The move by FECAFOOT has been lauded by club presidents and local players. In August last year the football governing body conducted a similar action by covering the entire expenses of inter-pools clubs in Bertoua. FECAFOOT President Seidou Mbombo Njoya, in the same light, urged players to respect the strict measures put in place to fight the coronavirus pandemic.
