Kidnapped SDF Chairman Ni John Fru Ndi released.
The Chairman of the Social Democratic Front Ni John Fru Ndi who was kidnapped on Friday June 28 has been released, family sources have confirmed.
Ni John Fru Ndi was released at about 21h20mn on Saturday and returned to his home where family members received him, sources said.
The Chairman of the Social Democratic Front was kidnapped on Friday afternoon by armed men who shot his body guard on the leg before taking him away to an unkown location.
The SDF as well as his family condemned the act and called for the immediate release of the Chairman. This is the second time in over two months that the Chairman has been kidnapped after he was first abducted at Wainama, Bui Division on April 27.
Reacting to the kidnap last Friday,The Secretary General of the party, Senator Jean Tsomelou, put out this statement:
“The Social Democratic Front hereby makes public to the national and international communities that at about 3.25 pm this Friday the 28 of June 2019, His Excellency Ni John Fru Ndi, National Chairman of the Social Democratic Front, was brutally kidnapped by heavily armed men in civilian attire from his Ntarikon Residence in Bamenda in the North West Region of Cameroon. He was pulled out from his dining table where he was about to eat and thereafter take his medication.
The Social Democratic Front strongly condemns this act of outright disrespect towards the National Chairman as a political leader, as a father and as the peace crusader who has stood the test of time through all the epochs of his political journey.
The Social Democratic Front requests his immediate and unconditional release. It is important to note that the National Chairman just returned from Mbingo Baptist Hospital barely an hour before this unfortunate incident happened. In the course of this incident, one of his bodyguards who had accompanied him to the hospital and back was equally attacked and shot on the leg, and he is current battling between life and death in the hospital.”
