Survie Cameroon Survival Initiative saga: Kamto’s men summoned over financial crimes charges!
The row that erupted between government and MRC leader, Maurice Kamto, over the legality of his Survie Cameroon Survival Initiative, has taken a new twist with the summoning of the key promoters over financial crimes charges.
Penda Ekoka Christian, President of “Survie Cameroon Survival Initiative” (SCSI) and Fogue Tedom Alain- National treasurer of Cameroon Renaissance Movement Party have been summoned at the judicial police Headquarters in Yaounde tomorrow Friday May 15th 2020 at 10: 00 am.
In two separate summonses signed by the director of judicial police – Dili Jacques, the two personalities are to answer questions concerning financial transactions of the SCSI that has been raising funds to assist Cameroonians battle with the spread of coronavirus pandemic.
The questioning of Penda Ekoka Christian and Fogue Tedom Alain has been ordered by the Mfoundi High Court that is monitoring financial activities of the movement government has on several occasions described as illegal.
On Monday this week, six volunteers of “Survie Cameroon Survival Initiative” were arrested and are still in detention for distributing face masks and hand sanitisers from SCSI to the population in Mokolo market.
Manaouda Malachie, Minister of Public Health, had earlier rejected medical and health kits from SCSI, urging Maurice Kamto to settle issues of legality with Paul Atanga Nji, minister of territorial administration, MINAT, who had ordered financial institutions to close and freeze the accounts of the initiative for illegality.
