Reactions to Biya’s COVID-19 speech.
The Head of State values the lives of his compatriots - HRH Chief Mafany Njie Martin, President of South West Chiefs’ Conference.
“The Head of State’s speech to the nation was very encouraging and consoling. It was even more especially as the Head of State has been fighting ever since the outbreak of this COVID-19. He has been doing a lot. For him to come out and say that he suspended the celebration of May 20 then I think he values the lives of his compatriots which is a very good thing. He insisted that we should continue respecting the measures laid down by the government. He asked us not to panic because that is what can actually disturb a lot of people. Knowing that one is a COVID-19 patient and looking upon that person as an outcast is unaccepted. So, he assured Cameroonians not to panic. That they should have courage and respect the measures that have been given. In due course if the treatment is found, he was going to do everything for Cameroonians to have it.”
